Background
Our over-arching aim is to understand the mechanisms by which social and economic changes in India are resulting in rapid increases in the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases, notably
- cardiovascular disease (CVD)
- cancer
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- diabetes.
Our three objectives going forward are as follows:
1: Identify the mechanisms for the effects of early-life socio-economic disadvantage on chronic disease risk in adulthood
2: Identify the mechanisms for the effects of urbanisation on chronic disease risk
3: Develop a community intervention for chronic disease prevention
